Six Softball Student-Athletes Earn Pac-10 All-Academic Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Oregon State University's softball team had six student-athletes receive Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic honors, as was announced by Commissioner Tom Hansen on Wednesday.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributer.

Senior centerfielder earned first team honors for the second straight season, while senior third baseman was named to the second team. Four student-athletes earned honorable mention accolades as , , and were all recognized for the efforts on the field and in the classroom.

Johnson, from Lake Oswego, Ore., boasts a team-leading 3.71 GPA as a Psychology major and served as the Community Involvement chair of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee for 2006-07. Known throughout her career for her defensive efforts, Johnson turned in a stellar final season from the plate, leading the team with a .329 batting average and finishing with 17 stolen bases in 18 tries.

Over the past three years, the Beaver softball program has produced 20 Pac-10 All-Academic all-stars.
