Gerard Lawson

2007: Gerard is an excellent special teams player and has experience as a cornerback...one of the most underrated players on the team and has been an integral part of the success over the last four years. 2006: Gerard is the third player in OSU history with a 100-yard kickoff return vs. Hawai’i...forced a fumble at Washington...made several key blocks on punt returns, including springing Sammie Stroughter for a 70-yard punt return for a touchdown against No. 3 USC...made 18 tackles for the season. 2005: Gerard started the first four games of the season at left cornerback and would see action in nine games...accounted for 22 tackles and one pass break-up. 2004: Lawson played in 10 games, making seven tackles...played periodically early in games...recovered a Reggie Bush first quarter fumble deep in USC territory, resulting in a Beaver field goal and a 3-0 lead. 2003: Redshirt.
PALO VERDE: Gerard was a three-sport letterman...earned three letters in football for head coach Darwin Rost...second team All-Sunset Region as a senior after making 39 tackles, six pass breakups and four interceptions...for his three-year career he had 93 tackles, 24 pass breakups and 10 interceptions...returned two interceptions for touchdowns as a senior...also was a solid running back, gaining 812 yards on 146 carries (5.6 avg.) and scoring 10 touchdowns his final prep season and accounting for 718 yards on 110 carries (6.5 avg.) and seven touchdowns as a junior...also returned kicks and punts...played in the Sunset-Sunrise Lion’s All-Star Game...also lettered three years in basketball and track...competed in the high jump and on the relay teams in track.
PERSONAL: Born in Las Vegas, Nevada...son of Clarence and Jessie Lawson...Clarence is a CCSD manager and Jessie is a manager at Rivera...has one brother, Clarence...selected OSU because “it is a Pac-10 school and plays in one of the best conferences in the nation”...majoring in merchandising management and is on track to graduate in December.
