No. 17 Men's Rowing Racing at IRAs

The No. 17 Oregon State men’s rowing team returns to the water at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships this week, Thursday (May 31) through Saturday (June 2) at
“Thirteen consecutive bids is a great accomplishment,” said head coach Steve Todd. “It means the program continues to move in the right direction. We are continuing to develop talent and put out boats that are capable of competing at the highest level of men’s collegiate rowing.”
This week’s events will be the 105th running of the IRA Championships.
“The event is one of the great traditions of collegiate rowing,” said Todd. “It’s a great race with what is considered to be the country's 24 best Varsity 8+ boats competing.”
OSU will be racing three boats at the IRA regatta with the Varsity 8+, Varsity 4+ and the Freshman 4+. The V4+ will compete in a field of 33 crews.
“All of our boats will compete in a very deep pool of talented boats,” said Todd. “It’s going to be challenging all around on all three levels.”

“Since the Pac-10 Championships, I think we have done a good job of staying focused and continuing to develop speed. Once we get to the East Coast we will have a couple days of practice before racing begins and have some time to make those last minute preparations and be really rested for racing.”
The Beavers will be looking for another top 10 finish at the IRA Championships and improve on last year’s 14th place finish. Nine of the previous 12 trips the Beavers have finished in the top 10.
