Coye Francies

2007: Coye will compete for a starting job or be the top reserve at cornerback...one of the better athletes on the team...also a dangerous kick returner. 2006: Started five games at cornerback, but saw considerable action in others...39 tackles for the season, including six in the win over No. 3 USC...forced four fumbles matching an OSU record (John Gonzalez, ’84 & DeLawrence Grant, ’00)...forced USC running back Chauncey Washington to fumble at the USC 25 in the third quarter, leading to a Beaver field goal and a 33-10 lead...intercepted Stanford’s T.C. Ostrander in the fourth quarter, marking the first time a Beaver CB made an INT since Aric Williams in the 2004 Insight Bowl...one Stanford series later Francies sacked Ostrander forcing him to lose a fumble (Keaton Kristick) led to a Beaver TD...forced a fourth quarter fumble against Idaho that led to a Beaver TD...sixth in the Pac-10 with a 21.8 yards per kickoff return average...signed with OSU in December of 2005 and participated in spring drills. AMERICAN RIVER JC: 2005 Mid-Empire Conference Defensive Most Valuable Player...first team JC All-American by the California Community College Football PERSONAL: Son of Paris and Beverly Richardson...has four siblings...his brother, Diamond, ran track at American River JC...chose OSU because of the “family oriented coaching staff and his close friend Sammie Stroughter (receiver)”...majoring in biology and is on track to graduate in June.
