2007: Derrick is one of the premier linebackers in the Pac-10...two-time Pac-10 second team honoree...one of the top senior defenders in the conference...a team leader who was voted to be the co-captain...innate ability to be around the ball...one of the fastest players in the league...19 career starts...possibly the next in a long line of Beaver linebackers headed to the NFL joining Keith Ellison (Buffalo), Richard Seigler (Pittsburgh), Nick Barnett (Green Bay) and James Allen (New Orleans). 2006: Selected to the Pac-10 Conference’s Second Team after finishing fifth in the league for tackles for loss with 14 (74 yards)...18th in the conference for overall tackles with 87...Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week after making 10 tackles, including two for loss and one sack, and forcing a fumble in the win over Washington...career-high 13 tackles at Boise State and picked up 12 at Hawai’i...intercepted three passes, returning two for touchdowns 12 yards vs. Idaho and 34 yards vs. Oregon...started all 14 games...had at least one TFL in 10 games. 2005: Derrick played in all 12 games...his ability was recognized by the Pac-10 coaches as they named him to the all-conference second team for his play on special teams...quietly was the team’s fifth-leading tackler with 42...season-high 11 tackles vs. Boise State...blocked a punt in the fourth quarter at Oregon...forced Stanford receiver Michael Horgan to fumble late in the second quarter...made his first career interception in the third quarter against Portland State, setting up a Beaver touchdown. 2004: Derrick played on special teams and as a backup at linebacker...13 tackles for the season...season-high two tackles vs. Boise State, Washington, Washington State and Notre Dame...team leader for blocked kicks with two (punts) vs. New Mexico and Notre Dame...his blocked punt vs. Notre Dame in the Insight Bowl led to OSU’s second touchdown two plays later...played in all 12 games. 2003: Redshirt.
