CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State’s Mitch Canham is one of 10 semifinalists for the 2007 Johnny Bench Award, given to the nation’s top catcher in college baseball. The Coleman Company-Johnny Bench Award, delivered by AT&T, is selected by a vote of a national committee including sportswriters, sportscasters, NCAA Division I coaches and scouts.
Canham is batting .345 with nine home runs and 52 runs batted in for Oregon State (36-16 overall, 8-13 Pacific-10), which finishes the regular season this weekend at UCLA. Games will be Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 12 noon.
