CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State catcher Mitch Canham was selected to the first team when the All-Pacific-10 Baseball Team was announced Wednesday. OSU shortstop Darwin Barney, pitcher Eddie Kunz and first baseman Jordan Lennerton earned honorable mention.
Canham (Lake Stevens, Wash./Lake Stevens HS), a junior, was named to the first team for the first time in his career; he had been an honorable mention selection last season. He is batting .345 with nine home runs, one triple, 13 doubles and 52 runs batted in as the Beavers head into this weekend’s final series of the regular season at UCLA.
Barney (Beaverton, Ore./Southridge HS), a junior, is batting .292 with two homers, two triples, 17 doubles and 41 RBIs. It is the third time he has been honored by the Pac-10; he had been a first-team selection as a freshman and sophomore.
Kunz (Portland, Ore./Parkrose HS), a junior, has a 2-0 record with nine saves and a 2.31 earned run average; in 35 innings, he has allowed 22 hits and 12 walks while striking out 32 and opponents are batting .179 against Kunz. Lennerton (Langley, B.C./Brookwood Secondary HS, El Paso CC), a junior, is batting .327 with six homers, one triple, 15 doubles and 42 RBIs.
