Women's Soccer Continues Spring in Seattle

SEATTLE -- The Oregon State women's soccer team put up a pair of shutouts with two games in Seattle over the weekend, and the Beavers haven't allowed a goal yet this spring. Unfortunately, the Beavers didn't score a goal over the weekend either and settled for scoreless draws with Seattle Pacific and Washington.
Sophomore-to-be Ashley Wood has been the goalkeeper for the Beavers all spring and head coach Steve Fennah credited her play.
Fennah was also happy with Saturday's game at Division II power Seattle Pacific.
"I was pleased with how we started and how we ended the game, in terms of how we played," he said. "During a spell in the middle of the game we tried to do too much individually to force a goal. When we settled down and moved the ball, we created chances."
On Sunday, the Beavers were at Pac-10 rival Washington, and Fennah described the battle as a game of two halves.
"The Huskies had us under pressure for much of the first half, although our defense did a strong job of preventing them from creating clear chances," he said. "In the second half we completely turned the tide and pressed Washington from start to finish. Our second-half performance was very good and we dictated the tempo. It wasn't good that we didn't finish our chances, but I think a little more composure and some work in training will take care of that.
The Beavers end their spring season this Friday (May 4) with a home match against Oregon at 7 p.m.
