Walnut Creek, CA The No. 15 ranked Oregon State softball team had seven players earn All-Pacific-10 Conference recognition on Wednesday, as was announced by Commissioner Tom Hansen. The seven All-Conference selections match the most honorees in a single season (2005) for the Beavers in program history.
Miranda, from Camarillo, CA, is a three-time honoree, garnering first team accolades for the second straight season after being an honorable mention selection as a freshman. Miranda currently leads the team in eight different statistical categories and is closing in on the school’s single season record for runs scored (47) and RBI (43). She is the only player in Oregon State history to score 40 or more runs in back-to-back seasons.
Oregon State had three student-athletes recognized on the Pac-10’s second team list. Senior pitcher Brianne McGowan pulls down her third All-Conference honor in a season where she has broken the OSU career records for wins, shutouts, strikeouts, and saves. Senior shortstop Mia Longfellow was named second team All-Pac-10 for the third straight year and she becomes just the fourth player in Oregon State history to receive Pac-10 accolades all four years of her career - she earned honorable mention accolades as a freshman. Senior outfielder Natalie Johnson also earned second team All-Pac-10 honors the first of her career after leading the Beavers with a .317 batting average and 17 stolen bases.
A trio of players garnered honorable mention status, including first time honorees senior pitcher Ta’Tyana McElroy and senior third baseman Sherina Galvan. Sophomore first baseman DeAnn Young received honorable mention status for the second straight year.
All five Beaver seniors received All-Pac-10 recognition.
Oregon State begins its quest to return to the Women’s College World Series on Friday at 1:30 p.m. PDT when the Beavers open NCAA Regional Tournament action in Ann Arbor, Mich., against University of Louisville.
