Beavers Finish Strong At Willamette Invitational

Thomson was the second OSU runner of the weekend to move up the Beavers’ all-time top 10; Jean-Marie Peterson had climbed into second place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with her race on Friday.
“The last two days, especially with Jean-Marie Peterson and Holly Thomson moving up on the all-time lists, have been really good,” OSU head coach Kelly Sullivan said. “And we had a lot of personal bests set this weekend by other women, as well. This meet was really successful, especially for the group that traveled to the Stanford Invitational last weekend. We had some great performances and were able to move women around (into different events).”
Holli Dieu cut three seconds off her season best in the 800 meters with a time of 2:15.75, finishing sixth overall in the field of 38. Lauren Denfeld also competed in the 800 meters and finished in 2:19.02, placing ninth of 38, and Katelyn Van Brunt’s time of 2:27.31 placed her 17th in the field.
Julie Garcia competed in the 400 meters and cut two seconds off her personal best with a time of 58.91 seconds, finishing fourth of 18 overall.
“One of the highlights today was moving Julie Garcia from the 800 meters to the 400 meters,” Sullivan said. “She ran very well.”
The Beavers next run on April 20 at the Oregon Invitational.
