Lanz, Smith and Rodriguez Earn All-Conference Honors

The All-Conference team consists of the top six all-around competitors, plus the top three competitors in each individual event not among the all-around selections. The team is determined by a combination of 50 percent regional qualifying score (not including her score at the Pac-10 Championships) and 50 percent Pacific-10 Conference Championships score.
Smith, the 2006 Pac-10 vault and floor exercise champion, finished second in the all-around (39.475) at Pac-10 Championships last weekend and ranks sixth in the conference and 22nd in the nation. Meanwhile, Lanz, who was a co-Pac-10 Freshman of the Year last season, finished tied for third in the all-around (39.450) at the conference championships and ranks 8th in the nation in the all-around and second in the conference.
Rodriguez was one of only two freshmen to earn all-conference status on an individual event. She ranks tied for 8th in the nation on vault and third in the Pac-10. Rodriguez scored 9.875 on the event last weekend to cement herself as an all-conference member.
This marks the second time Smith and Lanz have been honored as all-conference gymnasts. Lanz earned All-Pac-10 status in 2006 in the all-around and Smith was honored on floor exercise.
All three of OSU’s all-conference gymnasts, including Smith’s vault and floor routines that each earned scores of 9.925, can be seen competing at last weekend’s Pac-10 Championships on FSN Thursday, April 5 at noon and again Saturday, April 7 at 11:30 a.m.
