For a record third consecutive year, Oregon State University has captured the Northwest Dodge Civil War Series. The Northwest Dodge Civil War Series victor is awarded yearly to the school with the most intercollegiate victories in head-to-head competition between the schools.

The No. 17 Beaver softball team clinched the title by earning the last two points by virtue of victories over the Ducks April 6 in Eugene and April 25 in Corvallis. The two points were the last available in the series as the softball competition is the best-of-three series.

Oregon State won the head-to-head meetings 10-7 (17 points possible) and now holds the overall series edge 4-3, with one tie.

“Beaver Nation has a lot of things to be proud of and winning the Northwest Dodge Civil War Series for the third straight year is an outstanding accomplishment,” Director of Athletics said. “This is a credit to the student-athletes, coaches and administrators at Oregon State University.”

The two schools compete head-to-head in football, men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, softball, men’s and women’s golf, wrestling and women’s soccer. The football game is also worth two points, in which the Beavers won.

The Northwest Dodge Dealers Association is into its eighth year of partnership with the schools. The Northwest Dodge Dealers Civil War Series started in 1999-2000 and is the blueprint for many other rivalry competitions throughout the United States.
