Men's Golf Posts Low Scores at Pacific Coast Intercollegiate

SOLVANG, Calif. Alex Williams is tied for sixth place at the Ogio-Pacific Coast Intercollegiate after a 7-under 137 on Monday, and the OSU men’s golf team is in fourth place overall heading into Tuesday’s final round.
Low scores were plentiful at the par-72 Alisal River Course on Monday. With a 3-under 285 in the morning and a 12-under 276 in the afternoon, the Beavers ended up with a 15-under 561.
Unfortunately, some of the opposition was even hotter on Monday as
“We played well from tee to green,” OSU Coach Brian Watts said. “The difference from the morning to afternoon was that we just made more putts in the afternoon. Overall, we played very well. Tomorrow we’re going to have to go out and play aggressive. Hopefully we can get some more putts to fall and we’ll see what we can do.”
Of the Beavers’ 10 rounds on Monday, six were sub-par and another two were even-par. Williams had two of the better rounds, as he shot a 2-under 70 followed by a 5-under 67 to lead OSU.
“Alex played great golf today,”
Diego Velasquez is tied for 28th with a 3-under 141 (72-69), James Allenby is tied for 35th with a 2-under 142 (71-71), Vincent Johnson is also tied for 35th with a 2-under 142 (73-69) and Jeremiah Oliver is tied for 53rd with a 1-over 145 (72-73).
