Men's Golf 9th after two rounds of Pac 10 Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – The OSU men’s golf team finds themselves in 9^th after a rough start at the Pac-10 Championships. Two of four rounds were played on Monday. The third round at the Eugene Country Club will get underway Tuesday (Apr. 24) morning and the fourth and final round will be played Wednesday (Apr. 25).

The Beavers shot a 736, well back of tournament leader, USC who shot a 700.

James Allenby had an outstanding day for the Beavers, shooting a 1-under-par 143 on the day and stands in a tie for 10^th going into Tuesday’s round. Diego Velasquez is one stroke back with 144 and is tied for 19^th. Tied for 34^th is Vincent Johnson with a 147. Alex Willams carded a 150 and is tied for 46^th. Paul Peterson is tied for 52^nd with 153.

“We got off to a fairly good start.” Coach Brian Watts said on Monday. “We were in a good position when we got to the front side where the difficult par-3’s are, and par-3’s are usually our strength. We really struggled on those holes. We had a hard time commiting to the shots; we kept putting balls in the water. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Basically, we just have to play the par-3’s better tomorrow and we’ll be fine.”
