Women's Golf Finishes Day 1 of Pac-10s - Oregon State University Athletics

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Oregon State women’s golf team got out to a tough start at the Pac-10 Championships on Monday, April 23 at Broadmore Golf Club. After day one of the three day event the Beavers are in 10^th place.

As a team OSU shot a 328 on the par-72, 6,196 yard course. Freshman shot a team low score of 80 for the day that leaves her in a tie for 30^th place.

“We had a rough start on the first five holes, which are some of the tougher you face on this course, and we lost some confidence,” said OSU head coach .

Arizona State holds the team lead after one day of competition after posting a score of 297. Following in second place and six shots behind is USC with a score of 303 and UCLA is eight shots back in third place with a 305.

Leading the individual field is Arizona State’s Anna Nordqvist. Nordqvist shot a 4-under-par 68 that leaves her three shots ahead of Stanford’s Mari Chun at 1-under-par 71 and USC’s Paola Moreno at even-par 72 for the day.

“We are reevaluating our game plan tonight and making some adjustments, mainly chipping and putting. The green speed is somewhere between a 12 or 13 on the meter, which is US Open type speed. They are very touchy and we are working to get a hold of them and get some confidence back and then just go out tomorrow and play the best golf that we can.”

The Pac-10 Championship resumes tomorrow morning with the first OSU teeing off at 9:24 a.m.
