Beavers Men's Rowing Look to Knock Off Top Ranked UW - Oregon State University Athletics

The No. 18 ranked Oregon State men’s rowing team is headed to the Montlake Cut in Seattle, Wash. for a dual regatta hosted by the top ranked crew in the country, University of Washington on Saturday April 21. Competition will take place on Lake Washington on the 2,000 meter course.

The Beavers are sending five boats to the regatta with the Varsity 8+ and Junior Varsity 8+ both coming off a nice performance at Redwood Shores, Calif. at the Windermere Real Estate Rowing Classic. Other featured boats for OSU are the Novice 8+, Varsity 4+ and Novice 4+.

“I think we are a bit more confident,” said head coach . “They performed really well against some really well-matched teams down at Redwood Shores. I think that they are really eager to get this Pac-10 racing season started and to prepare for the conference championships and nationals.”

Competition will begin at 9 a.m. with the V4+. Following will be the N8+ at 9:14, N4+ at 9:28, V8+ in the 10:27 spot and rounding out the dual event for the Beavers is the JV8+ at 10:48.

“Number one for us is that we have to row our race. We have to be really focused on doing the best we can do. We cannot go and do anything to change how fast another crew, like UW, is going to row. Our priority is to go out and row our own race and show that we’re a team that’s improving and we are constantly going to get better this year,” said Todd.
