Liebowitz and Steven Make Splash on National Stage - Oregon State University Athletics

Oregon State swim head coach Larry Liebowitz has been named the head coach of the USA National Junior swim team. Liebowitz, who has an extensive background in the international level, feels honored to have the opportunity to work with the national junior team.

“I’ve been a national coach before and it’s always a great opportunity to work with some of the up and coming swimmers,” said Liebowitz.

The team will compete in a dual meet against Australia, Canada, and Japan in Palo Alto, California on June 23 and 24.

Also making headlines this past week was former OSU swimmer Birte Steven. Steven, a graduate in 2004, broke the German national record in the 200 Br. and placed first in the event at the German National Championships.

“It gets me excited to see someone who has as much passion for the sport now as she did four years ago when she was still here,” said Liebowitz.
