Oregon State’s eighth-ranked gymnastics team travels to Salt Lake City, Utah to make a bid for a national title at the NCAA Championships as announced by the NCAA selection committee Monday afternoon.
The Beavers, who had been waiting to learn of their competition schedule at the Championships since Saturday night’s NCAA South Central Regional Championships, also learned that they will participate in the afternoon Team Preliminaries session at 1 p.m., April 26. Lined up against Oregon State are No. 1 Florida, No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Alabama, No. 6 Nebraska and No. 10 Oklahoma. While the competition will be stiff, the Beavers received a favorable draw beginning the meet on vault, the same rotation they used at regionals to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
The second session of Team Preliminaries, at 7 p.m., features host Utah, which is ranked at No. 7, along with No. 4 Stanford, No. 5 Louisiana State, No. 9 UCLA, No. 12 Michigan and No. 14 Denver. The top three finishers in each session advance to the Super Six, Team Finals competition to be held Friday, April 27.
Individual Finals take place Saturday, April 28 at 7 p.m.
