Mark Spencer was named Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations at Oregon State University in August of 2006. Spencer’s responsibilities include overseeing the department’s $36 million budget, coordinating the bid process for NCAA and NIT postseason events and as sport supervisor for several of the department’s programs.
Spencer came to OSU from Saint Louis University, where he was the associate director of athletics for internal operations. He was responsible for all financial aspects of the athletic department and supervised multiple varsity sports. He was the sport supervisor for baseball, cross country, track and field, volleyball and assisted with men's and women's basketball scheduling. He was co-tournament director of the 2006 College Cup and served as a liaison to the 2005 NCAA Men's Final Four as a member of the finance committee.
Spencer spent two years as both an assistant and associate athletic director for business operations at East Tennessee State University before joining the Billikens' staff. He supervised the daily financial transactions of the department of athletics, managed ticket office operations and prepared the department's budget for 17 varsity sports. While at ETSU, Spencer also served as a member of the NCAA re-certification committee for fiscal integrity and was a founding board member for the BucSports athletic training facility.
Prior to ETSU, Spencer worked for two years at the University of New Mexico as the manager for athletic ticket operations. He coordinated all computerized ticket operations for UNM athletics, including the central university ticket office, as well as on-site ticketing. In 2000, he developed and implemented the ticketing plan for the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball West Regional Championship.
Spencer served two years as the director of ticket operations for the Los Angeles Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate Albuquerque Dukes Pacific Coast League minor league baseball team. He also worked at the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games held in Atlanta as a phone center supervisor and at the technical help desk for the 37 Olympic ticket box offices.
Spencer earned a master's degree in sports administration from Georgia State University in 1995. He graduated from St. Bonaventure in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
