Spring Practice Report (Day 5) -- The Dog Days of Spring

Day five of the 2007 spring football practice session was held in the
Spring practice continues to be impressive and the team looks further ahead than in most spring sessions. Offensive coordinator attributes the extra work by the team, particularly the younger players, in preparation for the Sun Bowl as a major factor in the progression. A fact that head coach often brings up as a very important, yet not often talked about result of a good season.
A good, make that a great season in 2007, will hinge on the play of a new starting quarterback, and for the most part Sean Canfield, Lyle Moevao and Ryan Gunderson have been sharp. and continue to throw strikes, and senior has been not only his usual steady self, but also very accurate. Canfield and Gunderson tried to confuse the media post-practice by switching jerseys, but it was all for not.
Freshmen-redshirts and made some nice catches in practice Monday. Running backs and also ran hard in drills.
Linebacker remained out of action while working through his back spasms. Offensive guard returned to practice working with the first team.
A couple of familiar faces from successful Beaver teams witnessed practice, as former quarterback turned receiver Seth Trimmer and safety Mitch Meeuwsen looked on.
