Women's Golf Remain in 13th at Tempe - Oregon State University Athletics

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Oregon State women’s golf team is in 13^th place on Saturday after two rounds of play in the three-round Ping/ASU Invitational at Karsten Golf Course. The third and final round will be played on Sunday Apr. 1.

On Friday, the Beavers were in a tie for 13^th after posting a team score of 307 and now stand alone in that spot with a second round score of 309 for a total of 616 on the par-72 6230 yard course. Leading the tournament is host team Arizona State, being the only team that is under-par for the tournament with a total of 11-under-par, 565 (285-280).

Again shot the team low for the Beavers with another 3-over-par 75 leaving her tournament total at 150. Gebhardt is in a tie for 34^th, falling just two spots from yesterday. “Overall Jessi played a more solid round today," said head coach . “She had 6 or 8 putts inside 18 feet that were real close that didn’t fall, so if she keeps that up and gets those to fall, she is in good shape. Julianna and Brittany both hit the ball pretty well today and just didn’t get the scores. All of the girls are hitting the ball well. We need to roll in a few more putts and limit some mistakes to score.”

“Today we hit a few more fairways and a few more greens than we did yesterday, but the mistakes that we made cost us," said Lakowske. “A big number of the mistakes that were made were mental mistakes. So right now we just need to set some positive goals for tomorrow and get our attitude and confidence in the right direction. We need to stay ahead of Cal, Washington, Missouri, Long Beach State and we need to beat Tulsa. Those are all things that we can do, and we just need to come out tomorrow and do it.”

A new leader has emerged from the pack as Arizona State’s Jennifer Osborn climbed three positions to the top spot after shooting an astonishing 6-under-par 66 in round two, leaving her 8-under par for the tournament. Mari Chun of Stanford is also threatening in a tie for second place, shooting a 6-under 66 as well, bringing her tournament total to 7-under par. Chun is tied with Arizona State’s Anna Nordqvist who shot 4-under-par for the day.
