Women's Golf Finishes 13th in Tempe - Oregon State University Athletics

TEMPE, Ariz. – The ASU/Ping Invitational at Karsten Golf Course is in the books and the Oregon State women’s golf team finished in 13^th place, where they had been the entire tournament. The Beavers shot a third round score of 305, which was their lowest as a team for the tournament and shot a collective 921 (307-309-305) in the three day affair.

For the third consecutive day had the team low for the Beavers and she also shot her third consecutive round of 3-over-par, 75 bringing her tournament total to 225. and were each just one shot behind Gebhardt today with a 4-over-par 76.

“Everyone had some problems, but they really hung in there and other than a couple holes, they played really well,” said head coach . “On the last couple holes, we were under-par as a team and those are difficult holes. So that is encouraging.”

Arizona State (285-280-286; 851), the tournament host, ran away with the team title as they maintained as the only team to shoot under-par at 13-under for the tournament on par-72, 6,230 yard course. UCLA (301-283-289; 873) finished in a distant second place at 9-over-par for the tournament. Anna Nordqvist took home the individual title at 10-under-par for the tournament. Nordqvist shot a 3-under-par final round to secure the tournament victory.

“It was very key to beat Washington and Cal. We had to beat them in order to even have a slight change to get to regionals,” said Lakowske.

OSU women's golf will be back in action next week Apr. 6 and 7 in Palo Alto, Calif. for the Peg Barnard California Collegiate.
