The Football Writers Association of America has announced that Oregon State University senior strong safety has been selected as one of 55 football student-athletes on the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List. The award is presented annually to the nation’s premier defensive player.
The 6-3 225-pound Boca Raton, Fla., native enters the season as the active leader in the Pac-10 Conference and third in the NCAA for career interceptions with 10.
Piscitelli has played in 36 career games at Oregon State, including starting the last 23. He is a two-time Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 Conference selection and enters the year with 113 career tackles and 17 pass deflections.
The Nagurski Award has been presented since 1993 and is sponsored by the Charlotte Touchdown Club.
Oregon State opens its 13-game regular season schedule Thurs., Aug. 31 against the Eastern Washington Eagles at Reser Stadium.
