You Guessed It - OSU Is No. 1 In Final Polls

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State, which won the College World Series championship by beating North Carolina 3-2 on Monday night, finished ranked No. 1 in the nation in the three final college baseball polls released so far this week. OSU was ranked No. 1 in the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll, by Collegiate Baseball newspaper and in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll; Baseball America magazine has yet to release its final rankings.
OSU finished the season with a 50-16 overall record; the Beavers had captured their second straight Pacific-10 championship and then won the NCAA Corvallis Regional and the NCAA Corvallis Super Regional to advance to the CWS. The Beavers set a school record for victories; at the CWS, they won six elimination games on their way to the national championship.
Going into the College World Series, the Beavers had been ranked No. 8 in the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll, No. 4 by Collegiate Baseball newspaper, and No. 4 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll. OSU was also ranked No. 4 by Baseball American going into the CWS.
