CORVALLIS, Ore. The Oregon State volleyball team is set to get its spring season underway next week. The Beavers hope to use a strong spring as a spring board toward a run at an NCAA Tournament appearance in the fall.
The spring schedule will be headlined by a home match against Portland State. The Vikings finished the 2005 season with a 21-9 record and a second place finish in the Big Sky Conference.
The Beavers are also scheduled to play a pair of neutral-site matches exhibitions at Santiam Christian High (Adair Village, Ore.) and Thurston High (Eugene, Ore.). OSU also has scheduled a match, next Saturday, against an alumni team.
Oregon State returns 11 players from a team that finished 11-13 with a 7-11 Pac-10 Conference record of 7-11. The seven conference victories for OSU marked only the third time in its history that a Beavers team has accomplished the feat.
Spring Schedule: May 12 at Santiam Christian HS in Adair Village, Ore. vs. Miller Paint at 6 p.m.; May 13 at Gill Coliseum vs. OSU Alumni at 1 p.m.; May 19 at Thurston HS in Eugene, Ore. vs. Team NIKE at 6 p.m.; May 25 at Gill Coliseum vs. Portland State at 5:30 p.m.
