Seven Softball Student-Athletes Receive Pac-10 All-Academic Accolades

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – For a second straight season, Oregon State University's softball team had seven student-athletes receive Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic honors, as was announced by Commissioner Tom Hansen on Thursday.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributer.

Outfielder and pitcher earned first team honors, while catcher , utility player and pitcher earned second team accolades. Third baseman and utility player were named to the honorable mention team.

With the exception of Miranda, who became eligible for conference academic honors this year, the other six OSU student-athletes were all honored last season as well for their work on the field and in the classroom.

Johnson, a junior from Lake Oswego, OR, boasts a 3.74 GPA as a Psychology major and was named the Community Involvement chair of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee for 2006-07. Johnson has seen action in 49 games on the season in the outfield for the Beavers.

Klever, a senior from Milwaukie, OR, holds a 3.78 GPA as a Liberal Studies major and completed her undergraduate degree in three years. Klever has pitched in seven games on the season and has earned victories against five teams ranked in the Top 25 during her career.

Oregon State hosts California on Friday in the NCAA Super Regional. First-pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the OSU Softball Complex.
