Men's Soccer Adds Fifth Recruit for 2006 - Oregon State University Athletics

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State men’s soccer coach Dana Taylor announced an additional letter-of-intent signing today, as midfielder/forward Kevin Rayo (Katy, Texas/Taylor HS) will become the fifth new player to join the program this fall.

Rayo plays for the Texas Premier FC club team. At the high school level, he captained the team to the 2006 district title, was named District MVP and ranked third in the district in points.

“Kevin is exceptional on the ball,” Taylor said. “He’s tricky, he has flair and he’s fluid. He can score great goals. He’s valued as a player that really knows what he’s doing. I think he could make an immediate impact as a freshman. Kevin is from Colombia and this summer he’ll be going back to Colombia to train and visit family.”

Taylor’s previously announced signings were midfielder Ryan Fitzgerald (Beaverton, Ore./Westview HS), the state 4A Player of the Year; forward David Gates (Bountiful, Utah/Woodscross HS); defender Jordan Harris (Eagle, Idaho/Eagle HS); and forward Justin Woodward (Corvallis, Ore./Corvallis HS), a first team all-state selection.

The 2005 Beavers went 9-7-4 overall and placed third in the Pacific-10 Conference with a 5-5 record. OSU narrowly missed out on a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
