OSU Moves Up To No. 8 In Baseball Poll

CORVALLIS, Ore. - After clinching at least a share of a second straight Pacific-10 championship over the weekend, Oregon State moved up two places to No. 8 in this week’s USA Today/ESPN baseball coaches poll. The Beavers (38-13 overall, 15-6 Pacific-10) swept a three-game series at Washington State over the weekend.
Oregon State finishes the regular season this weekend, playing host to second-place UCLA (30-22, 12-9) in a Pac-10 series at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. A win by the Beavers in any of the three games, and they would claim sole possession of the conference title.
Games in the series against UCLA are tentatively scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.; however, fans are advised that some or all of those times could change to minimize the overlap between the baseball games and the softball NCAA Super Regional Series that has California at OSU this weekend. An announcement on the baseball game times will be made as soon as they are finalized.
All three baseball games can be heard live on KEJO-AM (1240) in the Corvallis area; in the Portland area, KUIK-AM (1360) will not broadcast the games Friday or Saturday and will reach a decision on broadcasting Sunday’s game later in the week. All three games can also be heard and seen live via subscription on the internet at www.osubeavers.com.
In the other national rankings released Monday, OSU rose one place to No. 5 in the Baseball America magazine rankings, moved up two spots to No. 5 in the Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll, and climbed three spots to a tie for No. 6 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll.
