Corvallis, OR The accolades continued for the Oregon State University softball program as five players earned prestigious All-Pacific Region honors, as was announced late Wednesday by the NFCA and Louisville Slugger. For the second consecutive year, sophomore utility player earned first team honors and was joined on the squad by freshman designated player . Junior outfielder earned her second straight second team honor and was joined by pitcher (a first team selection last year), and freshman first baseman . All five players are now eligible for All-America honors.
The five All-Region selections are the most ever for the Beavers in a single season.
Miranda, from Camarillo, CA, was a first team All-Pacific-10 Conference selection and led the Beavers with a .313 batting average in Pac-10 games. Miranda has scored an Oregon State single season record 46 runs and leads the team with 14 home runs just three shy of the school’s single season high.
Ewing, from Scottsdale, AZ, has been one of the Beavers’ most consistent batters on the season, currently holding a .303 batting average with 18 RBI.
Alo, from Carson, CA, was named second team All-Pac-10 and is one of just three players in Oregon State history to earn All-Pac-10 recognition in all four years of her career. She currently holds the OSU all-time record for runs scored and ranks in the Top-5 in eight different career batting categories.
McGowan, from Reno, NV, became just the second player in OSU history to earn first team All-Pac-10 honors in back-to-back seasons. She currently leads the team with a 1.33 ERA and 201 strikeouts to go along with a 24-6 record. McGowan in one of just three players in school history to record back-to-back 20-plus win seasons.
Young, from Camarillo, CA, earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 honors in her first season at Oregon State. She currently ranks second on the team with a .323 batting average and a .559 slugging percentage.
Oregon State will host University of Nevada on Friday at 4 p.m. in the opening round of the NCAA Regional Tournament.
