No. 7 Seeded Softball Selected To Host NCAA Regional Tournament

Oregon State is one of 64 NCAA Division I schools selected to compete at 16 regional sites for a chance to advance to the College World Series from June 1-6, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
“Anytime you can play at home and on your own field, it’s a great opportunity” said OSU head coach . “To be able to host in the postseason is something that we’ve never had an opportunity to do and so we’re very excited.”
Tournament format is double elimination with the winner of each regional advancing to the Super Regional a best of two out of three game series. The eight Super Regional winners advance to the 2006 Women’s College World Series.

The Beavers have a 20-14 overall record in their seven previous trips to the Regional Tournament and have reached the championship game on five occasions (1999, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005) before being eliminated.
This is the second season in which the Regional Tournament will have four teams (originally there were eight teams at each site) and there is the addition of the Super Regional.
Tournament action runs from Friday, May 19 through Sunday, May 21.
