No. 8 Softball Falls To No. 6 Stanford, 7-5

Stanford (34-11; 7-7 Pac-10) took the early lead when Catalina Morris led-off the game with a blast over the left-center field fence.
Longfellow sparked the Beavers offense with a one-out double in the bottom of the first and after Oregon State (36-8; 8-5 Pac-10) loaded the bases with two players getting hit by pitches, Allen stepped to the plate and launched her second career grand slam over the left field fence.
The Cardinal put two runners aboard in the top of the second, but Beaver starter worked her way out of the inning with a pair of strikeouts.
Stanford pulled with one (4-3) in the top of the third after Jackie Rinehart singled to left field and Lauren Lappin followed with her first home run of the year down the left field line.
Longfellow gave the Beavers a 5-3 cushion when she went deep over the center field fence for her second home run of the season in the bottom of the fifth, but the Cardinal used a huge sixth inning to change the game.
Stanford reeled off six hits, including a double by Erin Howe, to score four runs and rally for its seventh straight victory over the Beavers in
Cardinal pitcher Becky McCullough retired seven straight OSU batters to end the contest.
Stanford held a 12-5 edge in hits.
The Beavers and Cardinal wrap-up the season series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
