Spring Practice Recap -- April 26

Corvallis The final spring practice was held under sunny skies again at Tommy Prothro Field. The team continues to look much farther along than at this time last season.
The Spring Game culminates the 15-day session on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Reser Stadium. Tickets are currently available at Gill Coliseum and Saturday at 9 a.m. at several gates around Reser Stadium.
For the last two practices the team worked on a two-minute drill, something that has not been seen in recent memory by coached teams at this point of the year. Starting quarterback led the team down the field impressively against the first team defense with receiver on the receiving end of a 25-yard (approx.) touchdown pass in double coverage.
Backup quarterback led a couple of series’ with the second team offense, and seemed to find a favorite target in . One drive was halted by linebacker ’s interception.
Rosters for the Spring Game will be posted Thursday. Several players will be playing on both the Black and White teams. The first team offense and the second team defense will be on one team, with the reverse on the second team. The coaching staff is considering an actual game clock for the first half, but a running clock for the second half.
Media in attendance included Jay Reece from Southern Oregon "Sportstalk", Mike Parker, Jim Beseda from The Oregonian, Cliff Kirkpatrick from the Gazette-Times, KVAL-TV and KEZI-TV. Parker will have interviews with a pair of offensive linemen and cornerback Coye Francies on Thursday’s Joe Beaver Show in the mid-Willamette Valley. Beseda interviewed and offensive coordinator . What do you hope to see from the spring scrimmage?
"Just playing. There won’t be any coaches on the field, the guys can just go out there and play. It’s basically an elevated scrimmage in front of people that’s as good of preparation for a team as anything. The next step is just to play without a coach on them every play."
