Spring Football Practice Recap -- April 24
Corvallis It’s hard to imagine the weather being any better than Monday in Corvallis, very similar to what one would see in August for practice.
The team concluded the practice with a two-minute drill led by quarterbacks Matt Moore and Sean Canfield. Both Moore and Canfield had good moments during the drill as the receivers made some of the best catches they have made all spring. Anthony Wheat-Brown returned to practice today, and to the fans in attendance, there is a reason he is on top of the depth chart. The athletic Wheat-Brown made some dynamic catches. Receiver Kyle Brown also made a nice catch as did Anthony Crosby.
Safety Bryan Payton, who is quickly becoming a nemesis to the quarterbacks, made an interception on a tipped pass during the drill. Linebacker Joey LaRocque also had an INT during practice.
Head coach Mike Riley announced following the practice that the squad will be split up for the Spring Game, with two actual teams. He stopped short of saying what the availability will be of tailback Yvenson Bernard.
Cliff Kirkpatrick of the Gazette Times was on hand today, interviewing Joe Lemma. Bob Rodman of the Register-Guard interviewed the Beaver quarterbacks and offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf look for a feature from Rodman on Canfield. Gary Horowitz of the Statesman Journal interviewed linebacker Alan Darlin and running backs Clinton Polk and Bernard.
Wednesday marks the final practice prior to Saturday’s Spring Game at Reser Stadium (1 p.m.)

Have you made a decision on the spring game?
"We are going to have two teams, we have just enough people to do that. We are thin at tight end, so there will be one tight end (Joe Newton, Jason Vandiver) on each team."
