Beavers Down Ducks in Sixth Annual Civil War Series

Portland, Ore. - The Oregon State University Beavers have swept to victory in the 2004-2005 Northwest Dodge Dealers Civil War Series. With victories in Men's and Women's Golf, Women's Volleyball, Women's Soccer, Football, Wrestling, Men's Basketball and Softball the Beavers dominated the series, winning with 12 points out of a possible 17.
The Civil War Series started in 1999-2000 and is the blueprint for many other rivalry competitions throughout America. At the conclusion of each year, The Northwest Dodge Civil War Cup is presented to the school with the most victories in head to head competition between the schools. The Beavers and Ducks competed directly in nine different sports with 15 total contests. There is a total of 17 points awarded throughout the year. The official point breakdown is as follows:
Football 2 points Men's Basketball 1 point for each win, 2 points Women's Basketball1 point for each win, 2 points Wrestling 1 point for each win, 2 points Women's Soccer 1 point for each win Men's Golf 1 point for each win, 2 points Women's Golf 1 point for each win, 2 points Softball Best 2 of 3, 2 points Volleyball 1 point for each win, 2 points
The University of Oregon has won three of the six Civil War Series, OSU has won two and the 2000-2001 event resulted in a tie.

The Civil War Series, presented by the Northwest Dodge Dealers, supports both institutions financially. The Northwest Dodge Dealers, who are committed to supporting higher education and collegiate athletics, consist of 32 locations throughout Oregon.
