Buck Is Pac-10 Pitcher Of The Week
May 24, 2005
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State's Dallas Buck is the Pacific-10 Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for May 16-23, it was announced Tuesday. It was the second straight week that Buck (Newberg, Ore./Newberg HS), a sophomore righthander, has earned the honor.
Buck earned the win as No. 4 Oregon State (41-9 overall, 19-5 Pacific-10) beat Southern California 5-4 on May 20, outdueling USC's Ian Kennedy in a matchup of pitchers who earlier in the day had been named semifinalists for the Roger Clemens Award. Buck went 8 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on two hits and three walks while striking out seven.
Buck improved his record to 11-1 this season, tying him for second place on OSU's all-time list of single-season wins leaders. Buck leads the Pac-10 in wins, earned run average (1.93) and innings pitched (107). He is also second in the Conference in opposing batting average (.187) and fifth in strikeouts (109).
It's the third time a Beaver has earned the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week honor this season. In addition to Buck also earning it the week before, sophomore lefthander Anton Maxwell had been named for the week of Feb. 15-21.
