The Third Annual Student-Athlete Talent Show Scheduled
March 29, 2005
Corvallis, Ore. - The third annual "The Other Side" student-athlete talent show will be held Wed., April 13 at 7 p.m. at the Oregon State University Alumni Center, adjacent to Reser Stadium. Proceeds from the event will be directed toward aid to victims of last December's devastating tsunami in Asia.
"This promises to be a great time for the Corvallis community," event coordinator and volleyball student-athlete Karah Rhoades said. "This is a terrific opportunity to see a different side of student-athletes and it's a chance to assist individuals who have been affected by the tsunami."
Acts scheduled at this time include men's soccer's Matt Johnson playing the piano, a fashion show by the volleyball team, a video performance by the men's golf team, plus several additional appearances by student-athletes and coaches. Nationally recognized inspirational speaker Will Keim will serve as the master of ceremonies.
Tickets for the event are $5, $3 for OSU students with school identification, and children 10 and under are free. Tickets are currently available for purchase at Gill Coliseum or April 12 and 13 at the Memorial Union Quad.
There will also be a silent auction. Items include a digital camera, four tickets to the 2005 football season opener and Montgomery Gentry concert, an aqua massage, the use of a vacation house at Sunriver, and a photo shoot by artistic photographer and former student-athlete Doug Nienhuis (photography major).
