Reser Stadium Construction Update -- January 2005
Jan. 14, 2005
Corvallis, Ore. - The Reser Stadium Expansion project continues to progress on schedule. The past month has focused primarily on erecting the structural steel frame that will support the new side of the stadium. Work has also been ongoing inside the towers constructing stairs and preparing for the installation of utilities to the upper floors. As some crews continue to install the metal deck on the Club and Founder's Loge level while other crews will be starting to pour the concrete slab on top of the deck that will serve as the new floor.
By the middle of the week of Jan. 17, the structural steel for the lower levels will be in place and the crew will move to start erecting the steel for the roof of the Club and the suite levels, and eventually the roof. The steel and roof structure should be completed approximately the middle of March.
The precast concrete entrances and stairs have begun to be installed along the lower level cross aisle. The large precast risers that will actually make up the floor of the seating areas will begin to be installed around Jan. 24. It will take almost eight weeks to install all the precast risers in place, but by the end of March the physical outline of the stadium will be nearly complete.
The retaining walls and field wall continue to progress and will be completed soon. The new height of the seating bowl will enable the students to stand in their section while the fans sitting in the front row will be able to stay seated and view the entire field.
Small mechanical rooms are being constructed at the base of the first tower and the conduits for plumbing and electrical fixtures are being installed in the areas of the restrooms and concession stands.
The parking garage also continues to progress as the elevator tower is currently being constructed. Starting next week (Jan. 17) the precast support structures for the garage will begin to be installed and the final form of the building will begin to take shape.
