Corvallis, Ore. - Former Oregon State University student-athlete Dave Marlette passed away Friday morning (April 9) at his home in El Dorado Hills, Calif.
Marlette served as a team captain with Skip Vanderbundt on the 1967 "Giant Killers" team that defeated No. 2 Purdue, then tied the new No. 2 UCLA, and beat No. 1 USC. The offensive guard from Stockton, Calif., was an Associated Press All-Pacific Coast selection as a senior and a first team All-Pacific-8 Conference pick.
Marlette majored in education while at OSU and as a senior was a second team Academic All-American and earned the program's Attitude and Scholarship honor. He lettered on the varsity football team from 1965-67.
