THIS WEEK: The Beavers play in the Peg Barnard Invitational this weekend, Saturday-Sunday, April 10-11 at the par-72 Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, California. The tournament consists of just two rounds and the top four scores from each team will count toward the team score.
After a disappointing finish in last week's PING/ASU Invitational, OSU is looking to place high in this tournament as the field consists of many teams the Beavers have beaten already this season.
"We need to beat every one of these teams," said head coach Ris? Lakowske.
"It's really key to finish in the top four to progess and get into the regionals. This is a crucial tournament for us.
"We can definitely do it and the girls are really committed to performing well this weekend."
Laura Skinner (sr.), Kelly Ferris (sr.), Leah Whiting (so.), Alex Lucio (jr.), and Lindsay Eide (fr.) will be competing for OSU. Anna Rosvall (so.) will also compete as an individual.
Whiting tied her season low last week at the PING/ASU with a three-round total of 227, which included an even-par 72 in the final round. She finished tied for 44th.
Skinner, after an opening-round 75, finished two strokes behind Whiting with a 229, which earned her a tie for 50th.
Denver took home the championship last year at the Peg Barnard with a total score of 621 and Stanford's Wendra Liang won the individual title with a 4-over 148. OSU came in eighth with a total team score of 640.
Lucio tied for 25th, a career-low, and Ferris tied for 29th at last year's tournament.
Teams tee off Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. and the final round commences at 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Both rounds will begin with a shotgun start.

THE COACHES: The Oregon State women's golf program is in its 14th year under the guidance of coach Ris? (pronounced Reesa) Lakowske. In those 14 years, the program has been a consistent postseason contender with 10 team and individual appearances at the NCAA Regional Championships and two at the NCAA Championships.
Lakowske competed at OSU from 1973-77, playing in four AIAW National Championships, winning two collegiate events and several non-collegiate tournaments during her career. Most notably as an amateur competitor she was a semifinalist in the 1973 Western Junior Championship and also a semifinalist in the 1976 U.S. Women's Amateur, earning her a three-year exemption from U.S. Open qualifiers.
Kathleen Takaishi officially became Oregon State University's assistant women's golf coach on Feb. 23, 2004, returning to her alma mater after serving as the assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs at the University of California-Riverside for the last 1 1/2 years.
The former OSU All-American played professionally on the Futures Tour for three years after finishing her OSU career.
