Corvallis, Ore. - Oregon State University Director of Athletics Bob De Carolis has announced that Mark Rountree and Jason Phillips have joined the department. Rountree will serve as the department's eligibility coordinator and Phillips as assistant strength and conditioning coach.
Rountree replaces the recently retired Mary Alice Stander, who was employed in the department for 21 years. He arrives at OSU after serving as an assistant athletic director for compliance at Towson University in Maryland since August of 2000. Rountree was the compliance coordinator and assistant to the athletic director at the University of Maryland from 1997-99, and has also served as assistant athletic director at the University of Texas-Pan American and director of athletic support at Louisiana Tech University.
The former four-year football letterman is a 1991 graduate of Louisiana Tech with a bachelor's degree in history.
Phillips arrives at OSU from the University of California-Irvine, where he was an assistant strength and conditioning coach since September of 2001. His work experience also includes the strength and conditioning coach for the Anaheim Angels and Foothill High School in Santa Ana, Calif., and assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of North Texas and with the former Rapid City Thrillers of the Continental Basketball Association.
The National Strength and Conditioning Association member is a 1994 graduate of the University of Colorado with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology. He also is a 1998 master's degree recipient in exercise physiology from North Texas.
