CORVALLIS, Ore. - A total of 119 Oregon State University student-athletes will be honored at an academic achievement reception on Monday, May 5. Athletes who have a 3.00 cumulative grade point average and have earned sophomore, junior or senior academic standing (at least 45 credit hours) will be recognized. Of those 119 student-athletes, 46 have a GPA of 3.50 or higher.
Six teams will have at least 50 percent of their sophomores, juniors and seniors recognized at the reception. Women's soccer leads the way, with all 14 of its sophomores through seniors maintaining a 3.00 or higher, including three with a 3.50 or higher. Nine volleyball student-athletes, or 64 percent of the non-freshmen, have a 3.00 GPA and six of them have a GPA in excess of 3.50. Women's crew will have 24 student-athletes recognized (60 percent), including 10 with a 3.50 or better. Seven gymnasts (58 percent), five men's golfers (55 percent) and six swimmers (54 percent) will be honored.
The 119 student-athletes represent 37 percent of OSU's 324 student-athletes who have achieved sophomore academic standing. Fourteen percent of those 324 have a 3.50 or higher.
