Jim Hanchett Named to All-America Team

Corvallis, Ore. - Oregon State University men's basketball recruit Jim Hanchett (HAN-sett) has been selected to the 2003 National Junior College Athletic Association honorable mention All-America team. Hanchett enrolled at OSU last month and is currently participating in offseason workouts on campus.
The 6-foot-5 220-pound forward spent two years at Utah Valley State College and was coached by current OSU assistant Jeff Reinert as a freshman during the 1999-2000 campaign. Hanchett led the Wolverines to a 26-7 record in the recently concluded season, and to second place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. He averaged a team-high 15.4 points, a conference-high 11.3 rebounds, and shot 58 percent from the field. He was a first team All-SWAC selection both seasons.
He served a two-year LDS Mission between his freshman and sophomore years.
Hanchett attended McIntosh High School in Atlanta, and earned all-region honors as a junior and senior.
