CORVALLIS-Dan Trump, associate athletic director for compliance the past two and a half years at Oregon State University, has been hired as assistant executive director of the Patriot League, it was announced Thursday by Carolyn Schlie Femovich, executive director of the Patriot League.
Trump will report for his new duties on June 10. His official title will be Assistant Executive Director for Sport Management and Governance. The Patriot League office is located in Center Valley, PA.
Trump's Patriot League responsibilities will be to supervise the governance and sport management of the league's 22 championship sports. He will also oversee the league's compliance program and contribute to championship administration.
"I'm very excited to be afforded the opportunity to work in the Patriot League," Trump said. "To be associated with such outstanding institutions is truly an honor. I look forward to becoming more familiar with the league, the student-athletes and each member institution."
At Oregon State, Trump has been responsible for the coordination of all NCAA Division I, Pacific-10 Conference and OSU compliance procedures necessary to sponsor 15 varsity teams with over 500 student-athletes competing.
"It was a very difficult decision for me to leave Oregon State," said Trump. "I feel this is an exciting career move for me at this time."
Originally from Los Angeles, Calif., Trump is a 1992 graduate of the University of California, where he earned his B.A. in sociology. During his playing career, Trump was a catcher and four-year baseball letterman. He played in the College World Series twice and served as team captain during his senior season.
In 1992, Trump joined the staff at Loyola Marymount University as the athletic ticket manager and facilities director. In his second year at LMU, he added responsibilities as assistant baseball coach for the Lions.
He left Loyola Marymount in 1994 to pursue his master's degree at Central Michigan University, where he also volunteered as the coordinator for the Michigan Special Olympics, with responsibility of recruiting, scheduling and housing for more than 400 volunteers.
After a one-year internship at California, Trump returned to Loyola Marymount as the athletics promotions coordinator/ticket manager. He was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director/Compliance Coordinator in 1997 and served in that role for more than two years before accepting his current position at Oregon State University.
