Two Softball Players Garner All-Pacific Region Honors

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Junior Brynnen Guthrie and senior Michelle Chariton each earned second team 2002 Pacific Region Softball honors late last week.
Guthrie, a second baseman, finished the season with a team-leading .342 batting average, including 66 hits and 25 runs batted in. Chariton ranked third on the squad with a .285 batting average while scoring 23 runs. The centerfielder hit plus .300 for most of the season.
One of the more prestigious honors in the sport, both Guthrie and Chariton now become eligible for All-America status.
Oregon State saw its season come to an end on Saturday night when it was eliminated from the NCAA Regional Tournament. The Beavers (40-25) were making their fourth consecutive postseason appearance.
