Bobek, Degenhardt Honored As Pacific-10 Medal Winners

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon State rower Sam Bobek and gymnast Lara Degenhardt have been awarded Pacific-10 Conference Medals, league commissioner Tom Hansen announced Thursday.
Pac-10 Conference Medals are awarded annually to each member institution's outstanding senior male and female athletes based on the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.
Bobek was a member of OSU's varsity eight boat that placed 10th nationally at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships and third at the Pac-10 Championships this past season. A biology/pre-dentistry major, Bobek (Warrenton, Ore.) boasts a 3.96 grade point average and was recently awarded a Pac-10 postgraduate scholarship. He was one of eight rowers to be named to the U.S. Rowing Collegiate honor roll first team as a junior.
Degenhardt earned first team All-American honors on the vault as a senior. Her sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships was the fourth best ever by an OSU gymnast on that event. She was a second team All-American on the floor exercise as a junior, and she was the Pac-10 champion on floor as a sophomore. Degenhardt (Salem, Ore.) carries a 3.53 grade point average as a graphic design major and is a three-time Pac-10 All-Academic Team pick. She was a second team Academic All-District honoree this year and has also been named a Scholastic All-American by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches.
