CORVALLIS, Ore. - - CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State's Tarrah Beyster (softball) and Aaron Koch (football) were awarded the 1999-2000 Pacific-10 Conference Medal by Commisioner Tom Hansen on Monday. A Conference Medal is awarded annually to each member institution's outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the best combination of achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership, as well as performance in their sport.
Beyster, a Pitcher/Designated Player for the softball team that advanced to the NCAA Regional championship game, earned first-team All-America honors this year after being named to the second team the last two seasons and third-team after her freshman season. Beyster finished her career at OSU with 24 school records, as well as being named the Pac-10 Pitcher/Player of the Week seven times. Beyster batted .424 this year with 16 homeruns, and posted a 27-13 record with a 2.45 earned run average. The San Diego native was drafted by the Florida Wahoos in the sixth round of the Women's Pro Softball League senior draft in Dec., 1999.
Koch, an offensive guard on the football team, finished his career having started 33 consecutive games and having played in 44 straight games. Koch was a First-Team All-Pac-10 Conference player, as well as a member of the First-Team Pac-10 All-Academic Team. Koch, a Keizer, Ore., native, signed as a free agent with the NFL's Tennessee Titans.
