CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State baseball player Tim Dryden and women's soccer player Beth Thomason have been awarded Pacific-10 Conference postgraduate scholarships. Each recipient, selected by their respective institution, will receive a grant of $3,000.
Dryden (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg HS, Lane CC) and Thomason (Portland, Ore./Sunset HS) were both seniors at OSU during the 1999-2000 school year. To be eligible for a Pac-10 postgraduate scholarship, a student/athlete must have an overall grade point average of 3.00 and be in their final season of intercollegate athletics eligibility.
Recipients must also have performed with distinction as a member of their varsity team, intend to continue academic work beyond their baccalaureate degree as a full-time graduate student, and have behaved both on and off the field in a manner that has brought credit to the student/athlete, their university and intercollegiate athletics. Participation in campus and community service activities and demonstration of leadership qualities also will be taken into consideration.
Dryden, a History major, played first base, third base and designated hitter at OSU for two seasons. Thomason, a General Science major, was a midfielder at OSU for three seasons and completed her career after missing almost two seasons with knee injuries.
