Beyster Tabbed For All-Region Softball Team

CORVALLIS, Ore. - - Oregon State senior softball player Tarrah Beyster was selected to the All-Pacific Region Second Team on Wednesday after leading the No. 13 Beavers to a 37-19-1 record (7-13 Pac-10) and a birth in the NCAA Regional tournament for the second year in a row.
Beyster, a first-team All-Pacific-10 player four years in a row, leads the Beavers with a .438 batting average and is a three-time All-American. She earned second-team honors in 1999 and 1998, and third team as a freshman in 1997. Beyster, a pitcher and designated player, is a two-time Pac-10 Player of the Week this season, and has been named Pac-10 Player or Pitcher of the Week seven times in her career.
Beyster holds 24 Oregon State school records, including most wins and strikeouts as a pitcher. Offensively, Beyster holds the record for homeruns, RBI, and batting average, among others.
Beyster has 15 homeruns this season to break her own school record, and has 50 for her career. She has 56 hits this year entering postseason play, 220 for her career, and needs just six more to break OSU's career hits record. She boasts a 2.53 ERA and 25-12 record in 43 appearances this season on the mound.
Beyster and the rest of the Beavers will take on Northwestern in the opening round of the double-elimination Regional Tournament in Norman, Olka., on Thursday at 3 p.m. PDT. The game will be broadcast live on KBVR 88.7 FM, with an air time of 2:45 PDT.
