Softball Team Headed To Oklahoma For NCAA Regionals

INDIANAPOLIS - The Oregon State softball team has earned a No. 2 seed in the 48-team NCAA women's softball championship and is headed to Norman, Okla., for the May 18-21 competition, the NCAA announced Sunday.
The Beavers (37-19-1) will face No. 5 seed Northwestern (28-24) in the opening round of play. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. PDT.
Rounding out the field of six is No. 1 seed and host Oklahoma, No. 3 Arkansas, No. 4 CS-Northridge and No. 6 Harvard.
"There are a lot of good teams in this regional, and we're excited to get the opportunity to play," said coach Kirk Walker.
The tournament is a double elimination format, with the winner advancing to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City the following week.
The Beavers are making their second straight NCAA tournament appearance.
All eight Pacific-10 will compete in the NCAA tournament, and five received No. 1 seeds. Washington, Arizona, UCLA, and Arizona State all earned top seeds and will host a regional, while Stanford received a No. 1 seed and will play in Ann Arbor, Mich. Oregon earned a No. 5 seed and will play in Baton Rouge, La.
