Women Remain In 11th At Ping/ASU Golf Tournament

TEMPE, Ariz. - - Carina Olsson carded an even-par 72 on Saturday at the Ping/Arizona State Invitational women's golf tournament to lead Oregon State to a score of 307, good for 11th place heading into Sunday's final round. Olsson is tied for 16th.
Rachel Borcherts shot a 78 to give her 152 for the tournament thus far, and is in 38th. Anne Brooksby and Brie Del Bone is 14-over at 158. Olsson's 72 beat her previous season-low by three strokes, and a 16th place finish on Sunday would tie her season best.
"The most important thing today was a change in our team's attitude," OSU coach Rise Lakowske said. "Their ball striking improved, and they're beginning to realize how well they can play."
The majority of the 15 teams in the field experienced inflated scores compared to Friday's first round.
"The course was much more difficult today, as far as pin placement and wind," Lakowske said.
Jenna Daniels of Arizona remains in the lead for medalist honors at 139. Daniels fired a 68 Friday and followed that performance with a 1-under 71 Saturday.
Arizona State, the tournament host, made up four strokes on yesterday's leader Arizona to forge a tie atop the team leaderboard at 9-over 585.
